Breathing Exercises for Sleep: Drift Off Faster
The best breathing exercises for sleep use a long, slow exhale: 4-7-8 breathing, slow belly breathing, and a 4-in, 8-out rhythm. Done in bed with the lights off for 3 to 10 minutes, they slow your heart and quiet your mind. Instead of trying harder to sleep, you give your body permission to let go.

- Quiet the 2am thoughts

After a week of long, slow exhales before bed, your body starts to connect them with sleep. The pillow stops being where you rehearse tomorrow, and rest comes to meet you.

Tips
- Keep your counting slow and soft.
- Don't check whether it's working. Just breathe.
- Pair it with a regular bedtime and it gets more powerful every night.
Make it daily
Turn this into a daily habit
Seven days is all it takes for this to stop being something you try and start being how you feel.
- Feel it working in your very first session. Most people notice the shift before the timer ends.
- By day three, the thing you came for starts showing up: deeper sleep, steadier nerves, real energy.
- By day seven, calm isn't something you chase anymore. It's how you move through your day.
